Thank you 2021 - Bring it on 2022!

2021 has been a tremendous year for Hungarian animation in general and for the estate of Gyorgy Kovasznai in particular!

At the beginning of the year, Kovasznai's feature film Bubble Bath was restored and digitized as part of the “Season of Classic Films” initiative of Association des Cinémathèques Européennes, with the support of the Hungarian National Film Archive and was featured in Festival d'Annecy's Classics program in June 2021. 41 years after its original release, Bubble Bath was back in Hungarian cinemas for the summer of 2021 and was released on streaming service Filmio later in the year. An exclusive Bubble Bath Blu-ray/DVD combo was also released in France - thanks to the wonderful Extralucid Films! It was also a great honour that in December 2022 Shanghai Art Film Federation presented a masters season to showcase 8 films by different Hungarian directors (as part of the celebration of Hungary cinema’s 120th anniversary) and Gyorgy Kovasznai's Bubble Bath was one of these gems...

Finally we are ever so very proud that Kovasznai's short film Nights in the Boulevard is #NowShowing globally on MUBI, as part of their "Fables, Folklore, Futurism: Visionary Hungarian Animations" selection!
